LHC Consulting performed an in-depth supply chain study for this multinational chemicals company. In line with its strategy program to become a specialty company in life and material sciences, it investigated opportunities to restructure its European supply chain. The study resulted in recommendations to replace existing local warehouses with a central warehouse and distribution hubs located in the northwestern, and the southern part of Europe. These locations were selected based on multiple centre of gravity studies. During the second phase of this study, LHC Consulting was re-invited to provide the client with an optimized goods flows and inventory levels in the future European SC configuration. Based on integral supply chain cost, required service levels and best practices, LHC Consulting designed the optimal distribution strategy on customer level. Combined with client's forecasting, this resulted in optimized storage allocation for its global product portfolio. LHC Consulting evaluated the current and future way of working across client's European sites, in order to formulate a supply chain design that lowers overall supply chain cost. The solution chosen has made supply chain cost more predictable and improved service level experience for customers. Furthermore, a foundation was built for subsequent improvement activities to the supply chain. |
